Slot Machine Collector Records: Serial Numbers, Repairs and Provenance

Collections become harder to research when paperwork and photographs are scattered across phones, email and boxes. An inventory record can preserve useful facts without implying a model, age or ownership history that you have not verified.

Create one folder per machine

Use a consistent identifier and keep photographs, visible model and serial labels, measurements, seller descriptions and purchase paperwork together. Label dates and sources. If an identification comes only from a seller, note that explicitly until you can corroborate it.

Maintain a repair history

Record restoration dates, parts replaced, electrical work and the name or qualification of the technician when applicable. Photograph safely accessible changes. Separate reversible cosmetic work from structural or electrical modifications, since these distinctions may matter for future maintenance and historical accuracy.

Document movement and storage

Keep basic packing measurements, weight estimates, storage conditions and transport invoices. Heavy cabinets can tip, damage flooring or injure people during movement; plan lifting and clearance carefully rather than relying on an unverified listing weight.

Protect privacy and follow the law

Avoid publishing private serial paperwork, addresses or signatures in an open listing. Rules on possession, transfer and conversion of historical gaming equipment vary by location. Preserve relevant legal documents and confirm the current law before any transfer or display.
